- Mosquitoes
MOSQUITOES are the most unpleasant of all flying insects in Florida. As everybody knows, they also transmit diseases like Zika virus.
Amazon Jack treats your yard with an effective barrier spray that eliminates flying insects for 20 days. We spray your shrubs and plants with a very precise method, building a barrier that kills flying insects on contact and bonds to foliage, where it acts as an insect repellent for weeks to come.
We also inspect your property for active larvae populations and treat them accordingly. Within 30-40 minutes of spraying, your yard is ready for enjoyment by family and pets.
WHITEFLIES are tiny, sap-sucking insects that may become abundant in vegetable and ornamental plantings, especially in South Florida because of the warm weather. They excrete sticky honeydew and cause yellowing or death of leaves. Management is difficult once populations are high.
Whiteflies develop rapidly in warm weather, and populations can build up quickly in situations where natural enemies are ineffective and when weather and host plants favor outbreaks. Large colonies often develop on the undersides of your Ficus.
They lay their eggs in a circular pattern on the underside of leaves. In 5 to 10 days the eggs hatch into nymphs, which briefly crawl around until they find a suitable spot to feed. They remain in one place through several more developmental stages until becoming winged, egg-laying adults, with the complete lifecycle taking 2 1/2 to 5 weeks. Adults can survive for 1 to 2 months, reproducing more quickly during warmer weather and slowing down when the weather becomes colder. Several generations can overlap.
Management of heavy whitefly infestations is difficult. The best strategy is to prevent problems from developing in your garden or landscape. We create programs customized for each client and treat their plants every 3 or 4 months depending of the situation.
To start treating a whitefly infestation, repeat applications may be necessary until having them under control. The regular maintenance during the whole year is essential to be successful getting rid of them.
